Composition
The Inclusion and Workforce Development Committee shall be composed of at least four members. It is strongly encouraged to have committee members that can represent diverse backgrounds and perspectives among IAWEA membership.
Vision and Duties

- To promote inclusion in IAWEA and the water industry as well as diversity and to remove barriers to involvement for underrepresented/underserved individuals.
- The water industry offers a wide range of careers and benefits locally and nationally. The Committee seeks to attract and engage individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences by introducing them to a variety of career pathways in the water industry and fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment in IAWEA.
- To support an inclusive and equitable organization that ensures diverse perspectives of our members are valued, respected, and considered.
- Support workforce development efforts, such as programs introducing young people to the water/wastewater industry, internship programs, etc.
- Foster activities that support underrepresented/underserved individuals/groups in the water/wastewater field, including but not limited to Women in Water.
- Communicate with the Water Environment Federation national headquarters to develop further ways of promoting the committee’s goals.
- When desired, provide perspective to the IAWEA board on various issues to assist the board’s decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with related committees, particularly: Membership Committee, YP Committee, Education Committee, Research Committee.
- Work collaboratively with programs for young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Prepare a written summary annual report of activities to be presented at the annual meeting. As minimum, the report should contain:
- Committee accomplishments
- Goals and objectives for the coming year
The Executive Committee liaison will be the President-Elect.
