What is the Iowa Water Environment Association?
The Iowa Water Environment Association (IAWEA) is the Member Association (MA) of the Water Environment Federation for the State of Iowa. Upon joining the Federation, you also become a member of the local association in your area. There are currently 65 MA’s, all having similar objectives to the Federation but on a local level.
What is the Water Environment Federation?
The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a non-profit, educational organization comprised of more than 41,000 water quality specialists from every profession in the field. The Federation represents civil, design, and environmental engineers; biologists; bacteriologists; local and national government officials; treatment plant operators; laboratory technicians; chemists; students; teachers; industrial technologists; and equipment manufacturers/distributors.
WEF and IAWEA encourage their members to contribute news and feature articles to these periodicals, and look to their members as valuable resources.

Membership Benefits
WEF and its Member Associations (MA’s) provide exciting and informative products, services and activities for their members around the world. These include high quality technical journals and manuals, technical conferences, operator training programs, local and regional legislative and regulatory activities, educational programs, affiliations with other professional organizations, and much, much more!
By joining WEF, you also become a member of a local Member Association.  In Iowa, the Member Association is the Iowa Water Environment Association. Other Member Association choices are listed on the Membership Application. Becoming a WEF and IAWEA member is your chance to increase both your knowledge and visibility in the water quality industry. You will benefit from services and programs designed to meet your needs, with a major emphasis on your professional growth and development. A Young Professional membership is available at a special price for newcomers to the industry. (A young professional is an individual with fewer than five years of working experience in the water quality field and under the age of 35.)
IAWEA also offers an Iowa Only membership for less than half the price of a WEF membership. An Iowa Only membership qualifies you to receive Clean Waters, our quarterly newsletter, and discounts at most IAWEA training opportunities.
